Great Show

Emergance is the title of the small 18x18 blue green painting. It features an egg with face and figures emerging from it.

Color me Happy is the title of the 6 paneled abstract painting. Each square is 12x12 and consists of a variety of warm colors.

The Exhibition is now all down from the walls of Ty & Co Espresso. Here are a few images from The Art Show.

While the show primarily featured Photography, there was also 6 of my paintings on display and one small work by each of my children .

Showing my Work

So now it's real. The post cards and posters have been printed so the show really is going to happen. This is more about proving it to myself than enything else. Excitement, fear, anticipation, all that and then some would just about sum up how I am feeling towards this event. Forthe first time in 10 years I am putting my work out there and opening myself up for judgement. I hope it goes over without any major objection. We'll see.

Ty & Co Espresso Art Show

Art Show Coming Up!
in...

Powhatan, Va. has got to be the best coffee house in the greater Richmond Area.
The picture below came form their web site. I did not take this photo, but it's a great shot.

Versions and Variations is the name of my art show at this coffee house in Powhatan, Va. in November 2006.

While there are a few of my photographs on display and for sale there now, the bulk of the show will go up the week of November 5th, with the opening being the evening of Friday the 10th from 7-9pm.

The "Frailers" will be providing great acoustic music to delight the ears while the eyes devour a variety of my recient work. Photography and Abstract paintings will fill the shop walls while the smells and tastes of great coffee fill the palett. Photographs from around the world and here at home will complement the colorful paintings to create a memorable experience. The paintings featured in "Abstract Painting in Action" will be on display in their completed form.

Emergence

Flowers are God's little accents of beauty for the world. We often see flowers in our daily travels but how often do we stop and really look at them? This image has been cropped (of course) and then manipulated in Photoshop for extra texture. The entire flower is beautiful, but a closer look is more interesting. While nature creates the object, it is the individual that controles the point of view. I prefer the close up. It's suggestive. Suggestive of what? Well, that's for the viewer to decide. If I state it then I would be denying the viewer the joy of introspection. We all cary different baggage that dictates how we see the world. That's the beauty of the individual. Just as each flower, rain drop, snow flake and grain of sand are unique, so are our points of view.

Power of the CROP

Variations on
Originals

One of the best aspects of digital photography, or digital design programs, is the ability to quickly create new artworks from an original with just a few quick clicks. Here I will show examples of Variations of my originals.

The Orginal Flower

This is the orginal photo. When I looked at in in Adobe Bridge, I saw more
possibilities of other compositions.

Below are two VARIATIONS

Interesting it seems that my crops turn flowers into body part variations.

This one is SHAFT. I love close ups. I think It needs to be printed at about a 20"x30"
